PPAC Nudes in Nature Workshop with Louise Diamond & Lior Allay (NSFW)

This photography workshop was powerful. The space, the safety, and the alignment with my values was inspiring and it re-connected me to the power of photography.

The workshop was put on by photographer Louise Diamond, along with model Lior Allay. The workshop was introduced by the Philadelphia Photo Arts Center & Lori Waselchuk. Lori host’s a monthly women’s photography meetup called Oh Snap! and September’s workshop was around Nudes in Nature. We were hosted by photographer Carrie Biegler at her home in New Jersey.

Being out in nature with a group of 12 women photographers was a rarity. Then we began the workshop. We heard about how Louise’s process for photography, and how Lior thinks about the nude human body. We all nodded our heads at how ridiculous the censorship of women’s bodies could be, especially as enforced impartially at online platforms like Instagram.

The experience of being able to photograph a nude model outdoors with privacy and safety was truly a rare privilege. To do so with 12 women was awesome. Throughout the afternoon there was so much conversation centered around body positivity and personal freedom. I noticed in myself that over time I simply forgot Lior was nude. I was out of my head and into my lens, noticing the lines. I found myself creating a story for all the poses that Lior was giving (they were fierce and so incredible at posing!).

Here are a few series of images from that shoot:
